A massive dharna was conducted by the Circle Coordination Committee, in front of Regional Office, Kochi, on 21.01.2011, in protest against the unceremonious and untimely transfer of System Administrators in Central Region. The undemocratic attitude of the PMG, Central Region, towards the staff side was also challenged by the Federation.
The dharna was inagurated by Shri. R Chandrasekharan, President INTUC, Kerala and Chairman, FNPO, Kerala. Shri. Johnson Avokkaran, Circle Convener, FNPO, Kerala presided over the function. Shri. T N Mohanachandran, Divisional Secretary, Ernakulam welcomed the gathering. Shri. K M Antony, President, NAPE Gr C, Kerala, Shri. N Harikumar, DSM, Idukki, Shri. Venugopal, Asst. Secretary, NUPE Postmen & Gr D, Shri. P N Shivaraman, R III, Shri. U K Pushpan, R IV, Shri. P L Tomy, P IV, and Shri. V K Mohanan, NUGDS, spoke on the occasion.
There was a marathon discussion with the PMG and DPS on the day, which was fruitful in achieving the demands. The union side was represented by Shri. Johnson Avokkaran and Shri. K M Antony. In the discussion, the PMG has sanctioned a sum of Rs. 300/- per month, as mobile phone reimbursement charge, to all the System Administrators in the region, wef July 2010 (The period from which the present PMG has assumed the charge).
The forcible transfer of System Administrators in the region will be considered favourably on receipt of individual representations. PMG has further made it clear to the union representatives that he is ready to meet the union leaders and discuss various problem pertaining to the staff side, whenever he is available at office or personally over phone. He has further explained that he had no intention to insult the staff and promised to be more careful in future while interacting with the staff. A healthy atmosphere was reached after the discussion.
